NEW: Dem Official Resigns After Screaming Vulgar Slurs At Women Taking Pic With Federal Agents
A local Democratic Party official in Arizona has resigned his party position and lost his job after video surfaced showing him shouting obscenities at two women during a protest over federal immigration raids outside a Zipps Sports Grill. The footage spread rapidly online, prompting public backlash and swift consequences for the official involved.
The man, identified as Mark Holodnak, was serving as treasurer for the Legislative District 12 Democrats at the time of the incident. After the video gained traction on social media, Holodnak stepped down from his party role. He was also fired from his job at a Phoenix-based real estate firm after activists identified him and publicized his conduct.
The confrontation occurred on January 26 outside a Zipps Sports Grill in the Ahwatukee Foothills, one of several locations targeted that day in federal immigration enforcement actions. Protesters initially gathered to observe immigration authorities but soon turned their attention to two young women they accused of taking selfies with law enforcement officers.
Video of the incident shows Holodnak approaching the women as they sat on the ground, holding up his phone and shouting profane insults. As the women attempted to leave, he followed them toward a gated area near the restaurant, continuing to yell obscenities while other protesters surrounded them and recorded the encounter. The women eventually entered a secured area and closed the gate behind them.
The footage was recorded and posted to X by R.C. Maxwell, a conservative writer and political activist who said he went to the scene after seeing reports of the protest online. Maxwell told The Arizona Republic that he did not witness the women taking selfies and said he wanted to document what he described as the nature of the protest activity.
After the video circulated widely across conservative social media platforms, users identified Holodnak and contacted his employer, HomeSmart, a Phoenix-based real estate company. The firm later confirmed publicly that Holodnak had been terminated and was no longer affiliated with the company.
