The Port Of Los Angeles Plans To Build A Futuristic Cruise Terminal — It Will Also Feature A Waterfront Park

L.A. is in the middle of a serious urban glow-up. From sparkling new subway lines and sleek gondola connections to cutting-edge museums popping up across the city, the skyline and streetscape are buzzing with transformation.
One of the latest big moves comes straight from the Port of Los Angeles. According to Urbanize L.A., plans are in motion for a brand-new Outer Harbor cruise terminal at the far south end of the port, set to replace some of the old surface parking. The project will also redevelop the existing World Cruise Center, giving the waterfront a fresh, modern look.
A modern cruise terminal that meets community needs
The terminal will be ring-shaped, state-of-the-art, and environmentally sustainable, ready to welcome the newest generation of cruise ships. At the same time, it will feature central green spaces, recreational areas, and a new park, making it a scenic spot for both visitors and locals strolling along the harbor.
Cruise ships are a major economic driver for the city, with each visit generating more than a million dollars in local spending. Last year alone, Los Angeles welcomed over 240 cruise calls, and the new terminal aims to capture even more of that growing business.
Beyond boosting tourism, the project brings a real benefit to the community, combining public space, recreation, and waterfront access in a way that integrates seamlessly with urban life.
